Jefferson County Emergency Rental Assistance
The Jefferson County Commission has approved a federally funded Emergency Rental Assistance Program for those Jefferson County renters that have been negatively impacted by COVID-19 and need help with rent and utility bills. Once again, the County has partnered with three organizations that will manage the program, Birmingham Urban League, Neighborhood Housing Services and Bridge Ministries.
This Emergency Rental Assistance program was created by Congress to distribute critically needed emergency rental assistance to millions of households at risk of losing their homes. The funds are provided directly to States, U.S. Territories, local governments, and Indian tribes through the U.S. Department of Treasury. Program guidance and resources can be found on their website here.
